TurfTide Newfoundlands - Bred for soundness, type, and temperament.
  • As you embark on your quest for a Newfoundland, it is very important that you fully research the breed.  Newfs are definitely NOT FOR EVERYONE!  While they are extremely loyal and loving life partners, they also are HUGE, SHED CONSTANTLY, and DROOL!  They require regular grooming which is costly and/or time consuming.

  •  Beware of buying from a pet store.  Pet stores get their pups from puppy mills and you are setting you and your family up for a lifetime of health and/or temperament problems.

  • Backyard Breeders are also to be avoided.  While they may have AKC registered dogs and fancy websites, they generally just pair any 2 dogs with little thought to the combination.  BYBers don't show their dogs to be assured that they conform to the breed standard, tend to do few or no health clearances, and won't be there for you when you need guidance in the raising of your pup.  Get involved in your regional Newf club and meet fanciers and breeders there.
